Low Vision

Does a pair of glasses or contact lenses no longer help?

If you achieve a visual acuity of less than 30% with your glasses or lenses, this is referred to as Low vision or poor eyesight. This is usually caused by a reduced function of your eye lens or retina. This can be due to age or illness.
These examinations and determinations are made by the eye doctor. In some cases, medication or surgery can improve or stabilize poor eyesight.
There are also various devices to make the most of your vision. This can range from a simple magnifying glass or special glasses to sophisticated electronic equipment.
